MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) -
Motorist using Coleman Boulevard will need to pay extra attention this week as lanes are being shifted for upcoming road work.
Phase 1 of the Coleman Boulevard Revitalization project kicked off Monday with an eastbound lane shift between Fairmont and Pherigo Streets on Coleman Blvd. The shift will remain for 60 days.
The shift will utilize the center turn lane to make way for two eastbound travel lanes.
Officials say sidewalks and bike lanes will be closed along the eastbound side of the road during construction.
The goal of the Coleman Boulevard Revitalization project is to create a "Main Street" setting in Mt. Pleasant. Major components of the project include building a landscaped median, on-street parking, and more pedestrian and bike friendly areas of travel.
When we are out on the highways, we have to share the roads with lots of vehicles including big rig trucks. A recent study found South Carolina ranks 13th in the nation when it comes to deadly accidents involving semis.More >>
