Sheriff: St. Stephen man caught with child porn

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

A St. Stephen man is facing twelve counts of sexual exploitation of a minor after sheriff's office investigators found child pornography on his computer, authorities say.

According to a release from the office of South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, Berkeley County Sheriff's Office investigators arrested 26-year-old James Berry Tisdale on Tuesday.

Wilson said an undercover detective downloaded multiple files containing child pornography from an account "ultimately traced to Tisdale" last December and in January.  On Mar. 11, deputies seized two desktop and two laptop computers, along with other electronic equipment, that were revelared to contain "numerous files" of child porn.

Tisdale is charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor second-degree and ten counts of sexual exploitation of a minor third degree.

The suspect was granted a $170,000 bond and was ordered to have no contact with children under the age of 17; no access to the Internet or electronic devices capable of accessing it; and was restricted from areas where children congregate, such as daycare facilities, playgrounds, schools, libraries and public parks.

He remained behind bars Wednesday afternoon.

The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office.
