Police: Municipal building reopened; no bomb found

Charleston police say people are returning inside the Reuben M. Greenberg building after a search following a reported bomb threat turned up empty.

Charleston Police Department Public Information Officer Charles Francis said nothing was found in a search at the building which houses offices for the Department of Traffic and Transportation, the Municipal Court, the Department of Motor Vehicles, and the city's courthouse.

A bomb threat was phoned into the Traffic and Transportation office around 2 p.m., prompting the evacuation.

The building is located next door to police headquarters.

Traffic was rerouted on Lockwood Boulevard while police investigated the scene.
