Rally for marriage equality set for downtown Charleston

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Alliance for Full Acceptance will join a number of other state and Lowcountry organizations Monday evening for the Charleston Rally For Marriage Equality.

The rally supporting equality and freedom to marry for members of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community will be held on the steps of the U.S. Custom House at East Bay and Market streets at 6 p.m.

The rally comes just one day before the United States Supreme Court will hear arguments about the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act and California's Proposition 8, two cases that are fundamentally about whether lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Americans should have the freedom to marry.

The event is free and open to the public.
