CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Forget the peanuts and Cracker Jacks. When the Charleston RiverDogs open their season next month, there will be a new way for fans to get a sugar buzz.
Alcoholic milkshakes. More specifically, beer mixed with ice cream and malted milk to create a float-like drink, dubbed a "beershake."
"Basically, our concept was to take a milkshake, throw the milk out of it and put beer in its place," Goldklang Group Food and Beverage Director John Schumacher says.
There will be three flavors available at the concession stand when the team has their first home game on April 11th: Guinness Caramel, Sweetwater 420 and Palmetto Espresso Porter Chocolate. The chocolate shake contains beer brewed by the Palmetto Brewing Company in Charleston.
Concession workers must ID patrons wanting to purchase the $6 shake.
"We have to keep reminding our staff that there's beer in it," Schumacher says.
Other new food offerings include a Peanut Butter and Pepper Jelly Jalapeno Bacon Burger and a Charlie T(aco) Dog, which is comprised of a soft and hard taco with a hot dog, mustard BBQ sauce and a cole slaw filling.
