Parole agent charged with providing phone for inmate

BARNWELL COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has charged a state Probation, Parole, and Pardon agent from Orangeburg with providing a cell phone to an inmate in Barnwell County.

According to a release from SLED spokesman Thom Berry, 37-year-old Tyson Maurice Millhouse was arrested Wednesday and charged furnishing or attempting to furnish a prisoner with contraband.

He was also charged with misconduct in office.

Court documents state Millhouse provided the cell phone to the inmate at the Barnwell County Detention Center sometime between Jan. 15 and Mar. 4 this year.  He was booked at the same facility on Wednesday.

Millhouse has been suspended from his duties without pay, according to Berry.

The case will be prosecuted by the 2nd Circuit Solicitor's Office.
