FOLLY BEACH, SC (WCSC) - Increased police enforcement is expected to start Easter weekend on Folly Beach.
Officials with the Folly Beach Public Safety Department say they will begin increased enforcement of both traffic laws and beach regulations in preparation for the approaching tourism season.
"As we get more people visiting the island, an increased presence by our department makes it safer for both tourists and residents," said Corporal Ryland Reed, who helps coordinate the department's DUI enforcement. "We also want to remind folks there's no drinking of any alcoholic beverages on the beach."
Authorities say those intoxicated in public may still be cited for disorderly conduct.
Police are reminding the public to think before drinking, make other arrangements for transportation if you plan to drink and enjoy a safe spring and summer season.
