(RNN) - Court cases around the world dealt with controversial issues surrounding marriage, murder and mergers this week.
Thousands of protesters gathered on the steps of the Supreme Court to show their support for same-sex marriage.
The nine justices heard arguments for two days, however their final decision isn't expected to be reached for months.
Meanwhile, Italy's high court ruled American student Amanda Knox should be retried for the 2007 murder of her roommate.
Despite the court's decision, the U.S. government has no plans to extradite Knox and she has no intention of going back to Italy voluntarily.
