WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) -

A West Ashley man is behind bars accused of sexually assaulting a girl over a period of six years.

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office charged Theodore Marvin Agee with second-degree criminal sexual conduct and lewd act on a child under 14 years old.

On March 6, 2013, investigators were contacted by a woman who said from 1998 through 2006 she was sexually assaulted by Agee at a home on Hara Lane. According to the victim, the alleged assaults started when she was 7 years old and continued until she was 15.

The woman said she and her mother confronted Agee, who confessed to the sexual assault on tape, before coming to the sheriff's office.

A sheriff's office report states Agee turned himself over to authorities on Monday.
