COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Colleton County Sheriff's Office has arrested a detention officer accused of sending nude photos to an inmate.

William Anderson Montjoy has been charged with furnishing contraband to an inmate and sexual misconduct with an inmate.

On Saturday, Colleton County Jail officials recovered a cell phone from a woman inside the detention center. An investigation revealed that the cell phone was given to the woman by a detention officer.

According to investigators, the detention officer sent inappropriate nude photographs to the inmate using the cell phone. The sheriff's office says although there was no sexual intercourse and the contact between the two appeared to be consensual, it is unlawful for a corrections officer to have any sort of sexual relationship with an inmate.

Colleton County Sheriff R.A. Strickland said that although Montjoy "seemed to be a good detention officer and was liked by co-workers," the sexual misconduct was both inappropriate and prohibited by law.

"Inappropriate or illegal conduct will not be tolerated during my administration," said Sheriff Strickland. "We are sworn to uphold and enforce the law and we will do so, even if the accused is one of our own."

Montjoy was locked up at the Colleton County Detention Center and was given a $50,000 bond.
