Woman struck by errant bullet at Walterboro Walmart

WALTERBORO, SC (WCSC) -

Officials say a woman standing in the Walmart parking lot in Walterboro was struck by an errant bullet fired during target practice.

According to Walterboro Public Safety spokesperson Elizabeth Boineau, the woman was in the parking lot of the Walmart on Bells Highway around 1 p.m. when she was grazed by the errant bullet.

Boineau said the bullet was fired by someone taking target practice about two miles away.

The woman was only grazed by the bullet and was not seriously injured, Boineau was told.

Walterboro Public Safety is investigating the incident.  The Colleton County Sheriff's Office is assisting with the investigation.
