Charleston, SC (AP) -

A South Carolina woman who faked having terminal leukemia in order to collect insurance money has been sentenced to more than three years in prison.

According to media reports, a judge on Wednesday also ordered Jennifer Eden to pay $500,000 in restitution.

Eden pleaded guilty to mail fraud in September. From 2003 until 2011, prosecutors say she got life insurance policies for herself, then falsely claimed to be dying from leukemia and received an early payment on her death benefits of $500,000.

During that time, authorities say Eden lived a lavish lifestyle that including vacations in Jackson Hole, Wyo. Eden's attorney has said she's sorry and was abused earlier in life.
