RAVENEL, SC (WCSC) -

Charleston County sheriff's deputies say a 19-year-old has been charged with the murder of a Ravenel man whose body was found by two kids on Friday morning.

Harold Lee Jones, Jr. was arrested Friday night and charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

Authorities say the body of 67-year-old James Butler of Ravenel was found by two children who were playing hide and seek in a wood line behind a vacant home at 6021 Roper Run Road Extension Friday around 11:15 a.m.

According to court documents, Butler was found face down with a gunshot wound to the back of the head, and was stabbed several times in the back.

The documents state a family member of Butler told detectives they had not been able to contact the victim, and found that his trailer was broken into.

After locating Butler's trailer, officials say blood was found on the victim's truck, and the trailer appeared to be burglarized.

Detectives say a witness during the investigation heard Jones say on April 3 that he had an argument with the victim. Jones also said he was going to kill Butler.

Another witness told detectives they saw Jones driving the victim's truck, a gold Chevrolet Silverado, throughout the day on April 4.

Detectives also spoke with a witness who stated Jones was seen leaving Roper Run Road, where Butler's body was found, in the victim's truck.

Court documents state Jones was interviewed and gave a voluntary recorded confession to the murder of Butler. He also admitted to having a .32 caliber handgun at the time of the murder.

Deputies also say Jones had a number of cuts on both his hands.

Bond for Jones' firearm charge was set at $50,000, and bond was denied for the murder charge.

He is currently being held at the Charleston County Detention Center.
