Suspect sought in N. Charleston bingo hall armed robbery

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Investigators are on the lookout for a man who robbed a bingo hall in North Charleston this past weekend.

On Saturday at 2:18 a.m., the North Charleston Police Department responded to the Evanston Plaza Beach Bingo on 5341 Dorchester Rd. for an armed robbery.

The two victims told officers they were taking the trash out when the suspect came from behind the dumpsters and pointed a gun at them. The victims said the suspect then demanded money.

According to police, when the victims handed their money to the suspect, the suspect said he did not want their money, but the money from the bingo.

Investigators say the suspect then escorted the victims back to the bingo hall and asked them how many people were inside and if the manager was present.

Once the suspect was inside the business, he told the manager to give him the money that was in the safe. The manager then gave the money to the suspect.

A police report states the suspect then forced everyone in the business inside an office until he left. The suspect took $4500 in cash.

Authorities describe the suspect as a black male wearing a dark jacket with a hoodie and dark pants.
