CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Police Department arrested 10 people after investigators confiscated drugs and a stolen handgun during a narcotic sweep in downtown.
Investigators say the operation happened on March 28 and March 29, 2013. Officers confiscated 186 grams of marijuana, 16.9 grams of cocaine base, 6 grams of cocaine, $1788 in cash and a stolen handgun.
The following people were charged with possession of cocaine base:
51-year-old Andrea Smith
50-year-old Sarah Louise Williams
48-year-old Christopher Johnson
58-year-old Thomas Bell
36-year-old Thomas Brizard
45-year-old Michael Waters
51-year-old Cary Brisbane
Eugene Robinson, 58, was charged with distribution of a controlled substance within close proximity of a school.
Marquis Evans, 30, was charged with trafficking cocaine base.
Authorities also charged 23-year-old Harvey Wiggins possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute within close proximity of a school, distribution of a controlled substance within close proximity of a school, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a stolen handgun.
Police say the arrests happened on Coming Street, Magazine Street, Congress Street and Carondolet Street, Congress Street and Benson Street, Moultrie Street and North Tracy Street, Dingle Street and Congress Street, King Street and Huger Street, Moultrie Street and Dewey Street, and Conroy Street and Meeting Street.
