Police: Fake DSS worker targeted people for drugs

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - A Greer woman has been accused of posing as a social worker and hospital employee to try to get drugs.

Greenville police say 47-year-old Christine Deyoung was arrested Sunday and charged with impersonating an officer and drug possession.

Authorities say Deyoung knocked on doors in a Greenville neighborhood, told people she worked for the Department of Social Services and asked about living conditions. One woman told police Deyoung asked to see her medications, then poured the pills on the floor and put one in her mouth.

Greer police say Deyoung also faces charges there for posing as a hospital worker to steal pain medication.

It wasn't immediately known if Deyoung had an attorney. Police say she told them she is addicted to pain pills and wants help.
