Suspect charged in Charleston Place Hotel burglary

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston police have arrested a man who they say stole an iPad and other items from a Meeting Street hotel room back in January 2012.

John C. Coakley, 35, was arrested Thursday and charged with first degree burglary.

Police say North Charleston man entered a room at Charleston Place Hotel on January 27, 2012 around 6:30 p.m. and stole an iPad and jewelry.

The jewelry has been recovered, according to police.

Coakley is being held at the Charleston County Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing.
