NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - People in North Charleston now have a place to swim year-round.
On Friday, officials are holding a ceremony to celebrate the reopening of the swim facility at the Danny Jones Complex.
The facility is now fully enclosed and heated for year-round access. The pool officially reopens on Monday.
Last year, the Logan Rutledge Children's Foundation approached North Charleston officials about the lack of a year-round swim facility in the area. The group raised $350,000 in private funds and in-kind donations for the improvement project.
The Town of Mount Pleasant and the Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission each committed $100,000 to the effort.
