Deputies: Man shot in leg in Beaufort Co.

BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Beaufort County sheriff's deputies are searching for a suspect following a Thursday night shooting that left on man injured.

Deputies say the shooting took place just before 10 a.m. outside a home on Shiney Road on St. Helena.

According to a release, the 40-year-old victim was outside talking with several people when a male suspect approached and began shooting, striking the victim in leg.

Deputies say the suspect then fled the scene on foot.

The release states the victim drove to his home on Saxonville Road and called 911.

The victim told deputies he believed the shooting could be related to an on-going dispute he'd been having with someone over money.

Deputies say the victim was taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.

No suspect has been identified.
