CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A Summerville man was arrested early Friday morning after a high-speed chase in North Charleston.

A Charleston County deputy was in the area of I-26 and Highway 78 when he noticed a motorcycle traveling at 100 mph.

According to an incident report, the deputy attempted to pull the motorcyclist over, but noticed the suspect was recklessly driving through traffic with no regard for other drivers.

Authorities say the chase continued down US-78 approaching College Park Road, where the motorcyclist ran an oncoming vehicle off the road.

The report states that the suspect turned right on Owens Drive towards Lincolnville, where he jumped off the motorcycle and ran towards a wooded area. The deputy chased the suspect on foot and noticed the suspect had thrown an object into the woods. The object was later located and tested positive for cocaine.

The suspect was finally brought down by the deputy and taken into custody.

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office charged 39-year-old Jermaine Faulk with failure to stop for blue lights, reckless driving, possession of cocaine and driving under suspension.

Faulk went before a judge Friday morning where his bond was set at $110,890.
