Charleston Farmers market a quarter century old

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - The Charleston Farmers Market is celebrating its 25th year with a weekend opening.

The market opens for a new season on Saturday and will be open every Saturday through Dec. 21. The market is held in Marion Square on the edge of Charleston's Historic District.

This season's market offers products from 29 farmers and growers from throughout the Lowcountry. There's also the usual live entertainment and works for sale by artists and artisans.

In 2008, the market was ranked by Travel and Leisure magazine as 1 of the top 10 best farmers markets in the nation.
