CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The US Coast Guard rescued three people after a Navy boat accident in the Charleston Harbor on Saturday.
Coast Guard officials said a 34-foot Naval patrol boat ran across jetties, causing the accident around 10:15 p.m. Charleston Fire Battalion Chief Mike Julazadeh said the boat struck the "South Jetty."
Julazadeh said all three people were hospitalized, with one person being airlifted and two others transported by boat.
The severity of their injuries is unknown.
A Charleston Fire Department boat responding to the rescue started to take on water after striking an unidentified object, according to Julazadeh.
Other boats responding to the Navy boat rescue aided the firefighters in getting their boat back to the dock. No firefighters were injured.
