WALTERBORO, SC (WCSC) -

Four men and one teen are facing charges in connection with a fatal shooting Saturday night in Walterboro.

Desmond D. Kirkland, 20, Lorenzo L. Helton, 21, and Marquay C. Brown, 21, of Yemassee; and Joey D. Coleman, 22, of Hendersonville, are all charged with murder in the shooting death of 24-year-old Stephon Young.

Young was found unresponsive along Crosby and Francis Streets on Saturday evening.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.  Walterboro Public Safety says an "altercation" preceded the shooting.

Errol Jackson, 18, of Walterboro is charged with Obstruction of Justice for allegedly tampering with evidence.  Authorities say he returned to the scene of the crime shortly after the shooting and was detained, questioned and subsequently arrested.

Authorities say the incident does not appear to be gang-related, nor related to any other shooting that has occurred recently within Colleton County.
