Nine suspected drug dealers behind bars following investigation

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Nine suspected drug dealers are behind bars following a drug investigation on James Island and West Ashley.

The Charleston Police Department says the arrests are a result of a joint effort by officers from the Charleston Police Special Investigations unit executing search warrants at several homes last week.

The following people were arrested:

26-year-old Ishmel Lemon, charged with possession of cocaine base with intent to distribute within close proximity of a school

24-year-old James Washington, charged with trafficking cocaine base within close proximity of a school

36-year-old Kendall Ladson, charged with trafficking cocaine base within close proximity of school

20-year-old Jeromy Campbell, distribution of a controlled substance within close proximity of a school

25-year-old Murphy Jenkins, charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute within close proximity of a school

24-year-old Akeem Wright, charged with possession of cocaine base with intent to distribute

51-year-old James Grant, charged with possession of cocaine base with intent to distribute

20-year-old Ronzel Olds, charged with possession of cocaine base with intent to distribute

53-year-old Eric Minter, charged with possession of cocaine base with intent to distribute

All nine suspects are locked up at the Al Cannon Detention Center.

Police are continuing the investigation.
