Charleston Farmers' Market makes Shape's Top 10 list

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC/AP) - The Charleston Farmers' Market has made Shape magazine's top 10 list of best farmers' markets in the United States.

"Charleston may seem like a quaint, small town, but this market is big," according to an article by Shape, a woman's fitness magazine. "Visitors can bring home everything from vintage jewelry to handmade pasta to local meats to fresh vegetables."

The Charleston Farmers Market also recently celebrated its 25th year.The market is held in Marion Square on the edge of Charleston's Historic District.

This season's market offers products from 29 farmers and growers from throughout the Lowcountry. There's also the usual live entertainment and works for sale by artists and artisans.

In 2008, the market was ranked by Travel and Leisure magazine as 1 of the top 10 best farmers markets in the nation.

Other farmers' markets that made Shape's list include those in Los Angeles, New York, Seattle and Boston.
