The New York Yankees have announced that first baseman Saxon Butler has been promoted from the Charleston RiverDogs to the High-A Tampa Yankees.
Simultaneously, first baseman Reymond Nunez has been promoted to Charleston from Extended Spring Training and will take Butler's spot on the roster.
A 6'2", 239 pound left-handed hitter out of Oxford, Alabama, Butler hit .286 with one homer and six RBI's in nine games for Charleston this year. Butler spent parts of 2012 with both the Staten Island Yankees and the RiverDogs. He was drafted by the Yankees organization in the 33rd round of the 2012 MLB Amateur Draft out of Samford University.
Nunez spent all of 2012 in Charleston and hit .238 with five homers, 47 RBI, and 21 doubles. The 22 year-old is a native of the Dominican Republic.
