Sheriff: Kids left in hot car while duo played video poker

HEMINGWAY, SC (WMBF) – Two people have been arrested for allegedly leaving two children alone and unattended in a hot vehicle while they played video poker, according to the Florence County Sheriff's Office.

Hemingway residents Prince Wilson, 57, and Maxine Brown, 58, were arrested by investigators with the FCSO Wednesday and charged with cruelty to children.

According to investigators, Brown and Wilson allegedly left two children, ages 7 and 11, alone in a hot vehicle for over an hour while they played on video/poker machine in a convenience store on Third Loop Road in Florence County. The children were in their care and custody, officials stated.

Cruelty to children is a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for up to 30 days, or a fine up to $200, according to a FCSO news release.
