JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County School District broke ground on construction of a new James Island school, Harbor View Elementary, on Monday.

The 87,000-square-feet new school will feature larger classrooms and a number of computer labs. The school will also have 32 teaching stations and several "special function" classrooms for art, music, and science.

Teachers are also hoping to have iPads for each classroom.

Work is expected to be completed by August 2014.
