CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A 27-year-old woman is behind bars after police say she attacked her boyfriend for withholding sex.
The Charleston Police charged Amanda Cantwell with criminal domestic violence.
On Monday night, officers responded to an apartment on Kennedy Street in reference to a criminal domestic violence incident. Responding officers say they detained Cantwell after seeing her run from the apartment.
The 33-year-old victim said Cantwell became extremely upset when he refused to have sex with her.
According to the victim, Cantwell slapped him on the head, jumped on his back and put her fingers in his mouth and clawed the inside of his cheeks.
The victim said he was able to get Cantwell off his back and contact police. Officers say they observed fresh scratches and blood inside the victim's mouth.
Cantwell told police that she and the victim had been drinking at home all day when a verbal dispute began. According to Cantwell, when the victim began to choke her, she defended herself by scratching him in the mouth.
A police report states that an officer did not see any marks or redness on Cantwell's neck.
