WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - State troopers have charged a North Charleston man with DUI after a crash that sent two Charleston police officers to the hospital.

Bond was set at $997 for 65-year-old Robert Zimmerman Wednesday night.

The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard at Interstate 526.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says Zimmerman was driving under the influence when he disregarded a traffic signal, causing a police officer to hit the truck.

The police officer driving the cruiser, another officer riding in the patrol car, and Zimmerman were all taken to the Medical University of South Carolina for treatment.
