CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office and the Charleston Police Department will be taking part in the sixth national Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, April 23, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The sheriff's office says authorities will give the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unusued and unwanted prescription drugs.

You can bring your medications for disposal to the sheriff's office at 3505 Pinehaven Drive in North Charleston. The service is free and anonymous.

You can also bring your medications to the Charleston Police Department headquarters on 180 Lockwood Boulevard and the Citadel Mall parking lot on 2060 Sam Rittenberg during the event.
