Deputies seize video poker machines in Wando

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Berkeley County sheriff's deputies have seized 10 video poker machines from a club in Wando.

According to sheriff's office spokesman Dan Moon, deputies were acting on a tip when they executed a search warrant at AJ's at 2140 Highway 41 around 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Moon said the club owner, who has not been identified, would face civil penalties and criminal charges.

The seizure is part of an ongoing crackdown across the state, and Berkeley County deputies have been active.

It is the first bust since deputies performed rips on a number of establishments in late March, including: Crazy D's on Redbank Road; Thirsty Turtle on College Park Road; Bruce's Lounge on North Goose Creek Boulevard, Steel Horse Saloon on Old Highway 52; Whistle Stop on Highway 52, and the Fast Break Lounge on North Main Street in Summerville.

If anyone has information on locations of these gambling operations, you are asked to call the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office at 843-719-4412 or 843-723-3800 ext. 4412.
