Report: Upstate church worker facing 27 sex charges

A former maintenance worker at an Upstate church is facing 27 charges in connection with two different sexual assaults, one dating back to 1976.
Crimes Against Children investigators arrested 58-year-old Timothy Lee Anders on Friday in connection to several sexual assault cases.
Last Wednesday, investigators say they met with a man who said Anders sexually assaulted him for an eight-year period. The victim told investigators he met Anders while Anders was employed as a maintenance worker at Wrenn Memorial Baptist Church in Greenville.
The victim relayed that in 1981, when he was 10 years old, Anders began to touch him inappropriately and also sexually assaulted him. The victim stated that these crimes continued until 1986.
During the investigation, an additional victim was discovered. This victim provided information to investigators that alleged similar incidents began in 1976 when she was 6 years old involving Anders.
This victim also met Anders through the church and began visiting with Anders in his home. This victim stated that beginning in 1976 and ending in 1982 she was touched inappropriately and sexually assaulted by Anders.
All of these incidents occurred at various places to include Anders' home, his vehicle, and Wrenn Memorial Baptist Church, according to authorities.
Anders has been charged with 27 total charges; nine counts of lewd act on a minor, four criminal sexual conduct with a minor and 14 counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
He is currently in the Greenville County Detention Center with no bond.
