GEORGETOWN, S.C. (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard station in Georgetown is getting a new emergency response boat.
The new 45-foot boat is arriving in a ceremony on Thursday and it replaces a 41-foot utility boat that dates to the 1970s.
The new boat has an advanced electrical system as well as integrated electronics that allow for greater control from the pilot house.
The delivery is the second of 5 boats coming to Coast Guard Sector Charleston during the next year. The boats are being assigned to four small boat stations in South Carolina and Georgia.
