A national initiative by U.S. Marshals targeting non-compliant sex offenders has led to the arrested of a man wanted by the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office.
Herman Dangerfield was arrested in Clay County Florida for failing to register as a sex offender. The arrest was made as a part of Operation Guardian.
Authorities say Dangerfield was required to register as a sex offender due to a September 1997 conviction for criminal sexual conduct.
Dangerfield, who was wanted by the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office, failed to register when he left South Carolina and moved to Florida and North Carolina.
The U.S. Marshals Service wrapped up Operation Guardian on Tuesday. The three-year operation geared towards targeting non-compliant sex offenders led to the arrest of 345 people who failed to register with state authorities.
