2 Charleston Harbor pilots honored for rescue

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - The Coast Guard is honoring two Charleston harbor pilots for helping rescue four people from a sinking boat earlier this year.

Coast Guard Sector Charleston Commander Capt. Michael White on Friday presents the agency's Meritorious Public Service Award to John Miles and Frank Witunsky.

The two captains are being honored for their help in rescuing four people from a 28-foot-boat that was sinking near the Charleston Harbor jetties on Mar. 30.

The award is given to those who show unusual courage in helping the Coast Guard with its mission.
