Report: Man squeezes through dog door to steal guns from home

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Investigators have arrested a 20-year-old man suspected of entering a West Ashley home through a dog door and stealing guns and jewelry.

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office arrested Malcolm Gerell Singleton on Thursday and charged him with first-degree burglary.

On April 21, 2013, deputies responded to a home on Ponderosa Drive in reference to a burglary. The victim said when he arrived at his home, he discovered that the front door was open.

The victim told authorities that someone had stolen a gun, rifle, tablet and laptop from his home. Investigators say a box containing jewelry and a coin collection was missing as well.

Authorities say they did not find any forced entry throughout the home, and it was possible that the suspect entered the home through a dog door in the back of the house.

An affidavit states, the suspect confessed to entering the home and stealing the guns.
