North Charleston house fire displaces family of seven

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A Monday night house fire in North Charleston displaced a family of seven, according to North Charleston fire officials.

Both North Charleston and City of Charleston emergency crews responded to reports of a structure fire at the 4000 block of O'Hear Avenue just before 6 p.m.

Responding units reported seeing a haze of smoke coming from the home. A resident told authorities that the fire began in the kitchen.

Fire officials say the fire damage was limited to the kitchen with smoke damage throughout the single story home.

The Red Cross is assisting the family. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
