Officials cancel talks on Sen. Ford's ethics allegations

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston County Council Chairman Teddie Pryor and council member Henry Darby were set to address the ethics allegations facing SC Senator Robert Ford on Tuesday afternoon, but the news conference has been cancelled.

Pryor and Darby were expected to give remarks at 4:30 p.m. outside the Lonnie Hamilton Public Services Building, the conference was cancelled on Tuesdsay morning.  A spokesman for the council did not say if the press conference would be rescheduled.

The SC Senate Ethics Committee has accused Ford of intentionally altering his compaign records in order to use campaign donations for personal expenses.  The committee also says Ford reported inaccurate amounts of what he spent.

Ford's attorney says the problems are a result of unintentional bookkeeping errors.  He said the changes Ford made to the documents were for "personal use" and nto meant to mislead the committee.
