Bishop England Wins Boys Lower State Finals In Penalty Kicks

Posted: Updated:
CHARLESTON, SC -

Bishop England is heading back to the AA Boys Soccer state championship game, but it wasn't easy.

The Bishops and their rivals from Academic Magnet held each other scoreless for 110 minutes of play. Once nothing was decided there, the two teams settled things in penalty kicks with BE coming out on top 3-1.

The win puts Bishop England in the state championship match for the 15th time in the last 16 years. The only time they didn't make it that far was last season when Academic Magnet won Lower States and went on to win the state title against Indian Land.

Ironically it will be Indian Land that Bishop England will face on Saturday afternoon at Gilbert High School.

Drew Costa, Nick Saunders and Joel Bunting scored the goals for the Bishops in penalty kicks.
