Report: Suspect arrested for shooting two people during home invasion

ORANGEBURG, SC (WCSC) -

A 20-year-old man is behind bars accused of breaking into a home and shooting two people in Orangeburg early Friday morning.

The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office charged Zyrale A. Jeter of Winston Salem, NC with first-degree burglary, two counts of attempted murder, and robbery while armed with a weapon.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said Jeter and an accomplice, both armed with weapons, went to a home on Faglier Circle with the intention of robbing the residents at 1:15 a.m.

According to investigators, the male victim opened the door after both of the suspects knocked. Authorities say the suspects then forced their way into the home.

An incident report states a male victim was shot in the leg and a female victim was shot in the back.

Jeter was arrested shortly after the shooting.

The sheriff's office says both victims are continuing to receive medical treatment.
