COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -
Investigators say a Cottageville man wanted for attempting to crash a stolen truck into a deputy's cruiser and leading authorities on a chase in Colleton County has been captured in Dorchester County after stealing another vehicle.
The Colleton County Sheriff's Office arrested Marcus Goins Tuesday afternoon.
According to deputies, Goins stole another vehicle and fled on foot from investigators in Dorchester County near St. George. SLED and deputies from Dorchester and Colleton counties were involved in tracking and catching Goins.
Goins was originally wanted for possession of a stolen vehicle, failure to stop for blue light and siren, aggravated assault and malicious damage to property charges in Walterboro.
An incident report states Goins was seen driving a stolen 2007 Chevy Silverado truck near Walterboro Monday morning. The sheriff's office says after Goins attempted to crash into a deputy's patrol car, a car chase started.
According to deputies, during the chase, Goins crashed through two gates and abandoned the vehicle on Westvaco property off Featherbed Road. Deputies say Goins, along with two other males, then took off into a wooded area on foot and were later seen in a wooded area off St. Peters Road.
K-9 units responded to assist with the search, but were unable to find the suspect.
The sheriff's office says the truck Goins was driving was stolen off Bennett's Point Road in Colleton County last Friday night, early Saturday morning.
