PICKENS COUNTY, SC (WYFF) -
An Upstate woman who is charged in the shooting deaths of her two children and with trying to kill her husband has been released from the hospital.

Anna Simpson was released from Greenville Memorial Hospital about 4:30 p.m. Monday and was turned directly over to Pickens County detectives.

Simpson had been hospitalized since being in a wreck just after her children were killed on May 14.

An emergency room nurse at Greenville Memorial Hospital said Simpson confessed to her, saying, "I shot my kids and then my husband and tried to shoot myself several times but I couldn't."

Investigators said Carly, 7, and Sawyer, 5, were shot multiple times.

Simpson's husband, Michael, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

She is being held in the Pickens County Detention Center.  Simpson will make her first appearance in front of a Pickens County magistrate on May 21.
