N. Charleston police searching for armed robbery suspect

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Investigators are looking for a suspect who attempted to rob people at a house that was being renovated in North Charleston.

The North Charleston Police Department say shortly before 1 p.m., officers responded to a home on Harvey Street for an attempted armed robbery.

According to investigators, the victims were inside remodeling the home, when the suspect entered through the front door, pointed a gun and demanded money.

The victims said they did not have any money and gave a set of keys to the suspect, however the keys dropped out of the suspect's bag before he took off.

The suspect then fled across the street between two homes on South Allen. Burns Elementary, Chicora Elementary, Mary Ford Elementary and Palmetto Scholar were all placed on lockdown during the search of the suspect.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, 18 to 20 years old, 6-foot, 120 pounds, wearing black pants, a black shirt, and a red bandana around his face. He was also carrying a black mesh bag.

If you have any information you are asked to call police or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
