ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

A Branchville High School teacher was arrested last week after deputies say he assaulted a female student.

According to Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested 52-year-old James Fields.

Deputies say Fields was on cafeteria duty at the high school last Friday when he assaulted a female student by hitting her in the face with a door.

The report said Fields also directed profanity towards the teen as he used the door to push her into the cafeteria.

The student suffered injuries to the right side of her face and was transported to Regional Medical Center.

Fields was charged with third-degree assault and battery.
