DOT seeks feedback on proposed port access road

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation is asking the public to provide feedback on a proposed port access road interchange in North Charleston near the old Navy base.

The proposed road improvement is a new freeway interchange on Interstate 26 just south of exit 217. The project would remove the Spruill Avenue exit ramps and replace them with a fully directional interchange connecting to the new access road.

DOT officials also want to gather information from the public about historical or cultural resources in the area that would be affected by the project.

The meeting will be held Thursday night at Military Magnet Academy from 5 to 7 p.m.
