Suspected drug dealers busted following traffic stop

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Two suspected drug dealers are behind bars following a traffic stop near Ridgeville.

The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office charged 23-year-old Jonathan Shawn Platt of Gaston and 25-year-old Josh Way McKnight of Holly Hill with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, trafficking cocaine base and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

The sheriff's office says when investigators approached the suspects' truck, they detected an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

According to investigators, deputies located 16 grams of cocaine base, 3 grams of cocaine and 60 grams of marijuana in the truck.

Bond was set at $30,000 for Platt, who was the driver of the truck, and $60,000 for McKnight.  

Both men were locked up at the Hill Finklea Detention Center.
