Mt. Pleasant native Shelby Rogers has won her first Grand Slam match at the 2013 French Open beating her opening round opponent Irena Pavlovic 6-3, 6-4 in Paris Sunday morning.
Rogers put together a complete match but was especially good with her serve. In addition to 5 aces, she won 84% of her first serves and never even let Pavlovic get to a break point chance.
The Lowcountry native was fairly subdued with her reaction on her Twitter account saying simply "First round win on the french dirt!!!"
This French Open is Rogers' 2nd Major that she's played in. She was a wild card in the 2010 U.S. Open losing her first match to Bethany Mattek-Sands in 3 sets.
Rogers next match will come against the winner of Simona Halep and 20th seed Carla Suarez Navarro.
