CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Newly elected U.S. Rep. Mark Sanford is back in the 1st District for a busy day of appearances.
Sanford has five events on his schedule for Wednesday, including a breakfast at the Belk store in Mount Pleasant commemorating the 125th anniversary of the Belk chain.
Among other events, Sanford is scheduled to meet families from the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, speak at a local Rotary club and meet with officials at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command in North Charleston.
Sanford, who served two terms as governor, was elected earlier this month to the 1st District seat he held for three terms in the 1990s.
