JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Cyclists currently are not allowed to ride their bike on the James Island Connector due to safety issues, but changes could soon be on the horizon.
North Charleston City Council approved a $75,000 bike path study Tuesday night. The seven month study will help officials identify what they need to do in order to make the connector safe for cyclists.
The South Carolina Department of Transportation says it is now illegal to ride a bike on the James Island Connector due to safety concerns.
The study will be performed by Stantec Consulting Services.
